As a follow up to the review of how Whole Body Vibration works, below is a summary of the 3 types of WBV:

Vertical
•	Ideal for accelerated training, muscle toning, and osteoporosis.
•	The platform moves straight up and down with minimal horizontal movement.
•	You can feel vibrations through the top of your head when standing straight. Imagine jumping on a trampoline 20-50 times a second.
•	Power Vibe Pro II

Oscillating
•	Ideal for fat loss and core strengthening.
•	One side of the platform elevates up, while the other side lowers down, alternating like a “teeter-totter”.
•	You feel a “back and forth” movement focused on your hips and pelvic region. It feels like you are taking 25 steps a second.
•	Power Vibe Motion I

Elliptical
•	Ideal for balance, stability, and rehabilitation.
•	Elliptical platforms move similarly to vertical units but with more horizontal and less vertical movement.
•	You feel the vibration massage mostly in your legs and feet. It’s comparable to a foot massager that’s made for your whole body.
•	Power Vibe Balance I

Pauline Nordin of FighterDiet.com posted an interview she had with Venice Chiropractor Dr. Carmine Gangemi. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a certified Personal Trainer, and has a BS in Exercise Science/Adult Fitness, Dr. Carmine understands the benefit Whole Body Vibration offers for stretching and flexibility. Read on to gain some valuable knowledge about great ways to stay fit.

1. As many people wear out their joints in the gym using poor form while exercising, what is one of the most common overuse injuries resulting from poor technique?

First off, the right technique in any type of movement is as important as the right form is in weight training. This applies to everyday non-training motions our body performs, such as walking. As far as answering exactly what type of injury is common in conscious workout routines, especially in cardio exercises, are knee injuries. They “popularly” occur on treadmills and ellipticals because of fatigue with the exercise which automatically also means over training. Poor form sets in as you compensate by turning your knees out and use your hips to “shuffle” as opposed to keeping your feet pushing straight ahead.

2. What is the ideal squat technique from a chiropractor’s perspective to prevent injuries?

According to Chiropractor Dr. Carmine Gangemi, a mechanically sound approach to the squat:

Starts off with a stance which is just wider than your hips with your feet your turned out slightly.

The bar should be placed high on your shoulder blades across your traps but not so high that it’s on your neck.

Your chest should be up slightly, shoulder blades pulled in towards each other, and your head should be in a position to slightly elevate your eyes.

Your lower back should maintain its natural curve throughout the movement.

Don’t hyper-extend but do keep yourself from falling forward excessively.

The bar should remain over your ankles or just in front of them through the exercise.

3. What are the three most important but least used exercises that should be part of any sound training routine?

Dead lifts

Squats

Standing Military Presses (to the front)

All of the above involve working out all major joints and do not require any major equipment. Any of these will greatly improve strength, bone density, cardiovascular conditioning and lean body mass if performed correctly and consistently.

4. What is one of the most frequently seen ailments chiropractors come across and how can they successfully treat them?

In general, a variety, if not most forms of injuries at some point or another require proper exercise to ensure a full treatment regimen. Some injuries may require more, for example soft-tissue therapies, but it is important to point out that a majority of injuries can successfully be tackled with just the right training.

One specific, very common type of injury are shoulder injuries. They can occur for a variety of different reasons such as imbalance, lack of stability, overuse and, again, poor form. With this and most other chiropractic injuries the right treatment most prominently starts with doing exercises in a very disciplined way, so that it, chiropractically speaking, is sound and proper. Stretching (and right stretching!) is another very crucial component before workouts and for reducing the risk of injuries in the first place.

Knowing how exactly the whole body vibration exercise works will give you a better perception of how this equipment works to increase you wellness. WBV exercise simply refers to muscles being exercised creating minute short bursts of instability in the body. Contracting and reflexive muscle actions are focused on the muscles with every vibration produced. This happens at a rate of 20 to 50 times every second. These contractions are compatible with the way our body functions in the 3 dimensional room. These contractions and reflexes result in a tough workout, creating increased power, strength and adaptability.

A leading health benefits is the fact that Power Vibe WBV equipment will enhance blood circulation. Improved blood circulation triggers a proportional increase in the levels of serotonin hormone levels and greatly contributes to an improved overall physical and mental wellness.

Research and further studies have shown that WBV will stimulate the use of idle and unused muscles even with elderly patients. The combination of muscular challenge and proprioceptive response awakens their sense of balance and therefore improves mobility. Both results bring about more health benefits such as psychological improvement and an improved sense of well-being.

All in all, WBV holds tremendous promise for our modern society of aging baby boomers and geriatrics. It is easily accessible and safe, takes only a few minutes a day and is extremely effective.

And best of all, with the arrival of Power Vibe, it is now affordable!

As we age, it becomes increasingly challenging to maintain our health, our bone density and our muscle mass. Our body changes over time, and so does its needs. But the need for exercise to maintain healthy bones and muscles does not change.

As we pass middle age into our golden years, as much as we still need it, we must be increasingly careful about how we exercise to maintain our fitness. We aren’t as flexible as we were in our youth, and our bones and connective tissues are more easily injured. Balance can also be affected by the aging process and by medications, making accepted gym workouts more challenging than they should be. If we find ourselves walking or moving with assistance, even more care must be taken to assure exercise is positive and of value.

As anyone familiar with staying fit knows well, it is detrimental to one’s body to stop exercising all together. The human body, even in its later years, needs the benefit of exercise. So, with the challenges presented by the aging process, how can we get the exercise we need? The answer is with a Whole Body Vibration system.

Within WBV systems are a full line of models and vibration types which target specific therapy needs. In some cases, in younger patients one type of vibration is used which is completely different than that used in older users. These various vibration and machine types are always therapeutic to one degree or another, but some care must be taken to select the proper machine for your own specific needs. You can research online to find out more about what a WBV system can do for you.

The most important thing to note is that some type of exercise is needed to keep your body healthy. Why not get the most efficient workout possible? WBV only requires 10 minutes a day for you to on your way to better health and wellness

We can hardly watch television, listen to the radio or open a magazine without being bombarded by literally dozens of systems touted to be the perfect answer for fitness, weight loss, and muscle and bone health. The media is packed with “new discoveries” to help us get more fit. That’s all well and good, but have you consider that sometimes systems that have been around for a long time, which have been well-researched and tested, and shown to have actual positive results over thousands of cases and studies might actually be the real answer to your fitness and health needs.

You should understand that there is no magic formula, no pill, no single therapy that will bring you health and fitness. Health and fitness are obtained and maintained through proper exercise, proper eating, and proper vitamin intake for your body type, your age, and your physical needs. But there are therapies and techniques that are proven to be more effective than others, and those therapies, if valid, have empirical evidence to support their claims. Whole Body Vibration (WBV) is one of those therapies.

Using specifically designed and therapy-focused vibrations, WBV systems can help restore muscle tone and bone density. Bone density, of course, is a function of having the proper elements in the body for its use to build strong structures, but it is also a function of the muscles around it. Weaker muscles cause weaker bones.

WBV systems uses a simple technique to keep muscles strong. As anyone who has been to a doctor knows, if the doctor taps in the right place below the knee cap, there is an involuntary kicking response as the muscles and nerves respond to the tapping stimulus. It is this involuntary response that WBV uses to strengthen muscles and tissues.

As vibrations are sent through the body, tiny involuntary muscle contractions and expansions take place at the frequency of the WBV plate. Though the movements are microscopic, they provide the same type of stimulus one would get from lifting weights or using gym equipment. And this is done without the danger of working out in a gym, or the ensuing fatigue. Whole Body Vibration is a real solution to America’s health issues and has been proven to be an effective form of exercise to improve health and wellness.

Vibration therapies have been around for a very long time. The Russian Space program first experimented with vibration technologies to prevent the bone and muscle loss associated with long space travel successfully for a number of years.

As more and more researchers, scientists, and marketers from all over the globe have discovered the benefits of vibration technologies for people from all walks of life, dozens of systems have been designed to provide support and therapies for bone density and muscular strength challenges. Many of these systems are highly complex, difficult to use and marginally reliable. This is not the case with PowerVibe Whole Body Vibration systems.

The PowerVibe product line has been designed with two things in mind. We want it to be effective for the medical challenges it is designed to meet, and we want it to be simply reliable for a long service life with minimal repairs. With careful attention to engineering, we feel we have hit that mark. Our systems are simple to use, easy to understand, and reliable as a we make them available at a cost almost anyone can afford.

Come and visit our website for details. You will find a great deal of specific information there about our philosophies and machine designs. If you have more questions after visiting the site, contact us for more details. Find it at: http://www.powervibeusa.com/

There is nothing new about the concept of vibration technology to help preserve and enhance muscle tone and bone density. Russian scientist first discovered the benefits of the technology in the 50’s, during the early space program. What IS new about vibration therapies is the new PowerVibe product line. We have continued the research into the benefits of vibration, and incorporated our findings into our systems.

Depending upon the therapies needed, our systems vibrate either vertically, in an oscillating pattern, or in an elliptical motion which combines movements into a three-dimensional, non-regular pattern. Each vibratory pattern has a specific therapy target and has proven to be quite effective for the challenges it is trying to meet.

The basic vertical PowerVibe vibrating system uses simple up and down vibrations. The vibrations are sent straight up and down through the body. This system is best suited for stronger individuals, athletes recovering from injuries and those looking to build new bone mass.

The oscillating pattern system raises first one side of the pedestal and then the other side in a teeter-totter-like motion (at vibrating speeds of course). This system is best suited for patients who need to get active again by improving mobility and range of motion, those looking to lose weight and those who want to tone core muscles. It sends vibrations into the body at angles and creates lower impact on joints than the simple vertical vibration system.

The elliptical pattern WBV system uses a non-symmetric vibratory pattern which stimulates the body’s balance and spatial orientation systems. It is intended as wonderful therapy for older patients who are having difficulty with balance. It is also a gentler therapy than the vertical system, reducing the chances of injury aggravation and discomfort in older patients.
